Finger Independence and Speed Exercises 2

Hey Reader I hope you've had a great week! If you saw the last email, you'll have seen it was all about finger independence and using the chromatic scale to help develop this. I've just added a new short blog post with the next exercise which builds on this, making sure that your pinky gets a good workout. This is often the weakest finger and can be neglected, so this should be valuable to anyone who's looking to improve. Check it out here: Click image Have fun, and remember to add any...

Hey Reader Here's the first in a small series of Finger Independence Exercises for guitar. As we know, finger independence is hugely important for anything you want to do, but the focus here is dexterity and building speed. So, over the next few weeks, we'll be looking at a few exercises that will really help build independence and speed, starting with these Chromatic exercises. Why Chromatic? Well, they use all our fingers for a start, so if you rarely use your pinky, like lots of my...

Is this the best delay pedal ever?? I've been lucky enough to get my hands on the Meris LVX recently and have made a couple of different videos going through some of its sounds, and also using the amazing modular interface to create a tape delay preset. You can find the review here, and the videos are embedded for easy viewing. The sounds on this pedal are pretty mind blowing! I hope you enjoy the review and video. Thanks for being part of the family! Sam Goffen

Hey Reader Hope all is good! Here are a couple of new things for you to check out. First, a lesson on the Dorian mode. In this we compare it to the natural minor scale, and check out a couple of licks and possible chord progressions. There's also a backing track to try the licks with. You can find that here: Triads are hugely important when playing, and you may have noticed how much I like them as an approach rather than just using scales. The Triad Lesson is still up on Teachable at half...

Hey Reader Lots of exciting things happening for guitarists at the moment. New products coming out with the new year and updates for other gear. One of them was the long awaited 2.0.0 update for the Quad Cortex, which is great. Check out some of the highlights here: Here's also the latest Jazz Blues jam track. Hey Reader I hope you had a wonderful Christmas period and New Year. The latest review is now up which is for the Gamechanger Audio Plasma Coil Third Man pedal, which is a pretty unique distortion / fuzz with octave down and up possibilites. Created in conjuction with Jack White, it encapsulates his sound on many of his songs. Check it out here: Click For the Review As well as this, I've been working on adding some lessons to Teachable - the one on Triads will be out soon and you can access...

Free Lick Friday - When I can I like to share these quick lessons with you. This lick uses sidestepping - a simple technique to add a jazzy or fusion feel of tension and release in your playing. Just click on the image below for the quick lesson. Give it a go and see what you think.

Hey Reader As you might know, I've done a couple of videos lately on different Tube Screamers, and thought I'd check out a couple of the more budget friendly pedals to see how they compare. I got hold of a Behringer TO800 and a Tone City Kafir Lime to play them against an Ibanez TS 808, and to be fair, they did pretty well. I was actually quite suprised, and it got me thinking about my own tone snobbery a little. I was thinking before I even tried these pedals that there would just be no way...
